What You CAN Claim:
If you have optical cover as part of your health fund, then the chances are you’re entitled to some great benefits.
Prescription Glasses
Frames and lenses prescribed by our optometrists are generally claimable. This includes single vision, multifocals and progressives lenses, plus coatings like anti-reflective or blue light (if they’re a part of your prescription).
Prescription Sunglasses
Yes, health funds can also cover sunglasses as well, however, as long as they are prescription. It is perfect for protecting your eyes while looking stylish this summer.
Contact Lenses
Disposable and custom contact lenses are typically claimable when prescribed by your optometrists. We process most claims on the spot through HICAPS, so you don’t need to chase reimbursements later.
Advanced Eye Tests
Standard eye exams are covered by Medicare, however, some specialist scans may be claimable through your health fund depending on the level of your cover.
Prescription Safety Glasses
If you need safety eyewear for work, your fund may cover a portion of the cost for prescription safety glasses purchased through us.
What You CAN’T Claim
While it would be amazing if everything was included in health funds, there are a few items that they don’t cover, including;
- Non-prescription fashion glasses or sunglasses
- Blue light glasses without a prescription
- Cleaning sprays, cloths and contact lens solutions
- Purchases made from non-registered or overseas online stores
